THANK YOU! $4.5M Raised for Streetscape—Construction Begins Early 2026 | December 15, 2025
Dear Members and Friends,
Warmest wishes for a joyful holiday season from all of us at the La Jolla Community Foundation. As 2025 draws to a close, we want to thank you for the support and partnership that has brought the Village Streetscape Project to this pivotal moment.
We're approaching construction for Phase One: Girard Avenue from Prospect to Wall Street. The City of San Diego is reviewing the final construction documents—the last step before permitting and public bidding. Once a construction firm is selected, we will provide a detailed timeline and dedicated communication channels for residents and merchants. Construction will be sequenced in phases to minimize disruptions and maintain safe access for businesses throughout the process.
This milestone reflects extraordinary community commitment. To date, we've raised more than $4.5 million, with the majority coming from La Jolla families and individuals. We're also grateful for a $1 million grant from the State of California and $20,000 from the County of San Diego. After investing approximately $800,000 in design, engineering, and permitting, we now have the funds to complete Phase One construction.
What’s Next—Successfully implementing Phase One and securing funding for Phase Two, which will extend streetscape improvements along Girard Avenue from Wall Street to Silverado Street. We'll share more details on the next phase in the coming months.
Thank you for your partnership in creating a more vibrant, resilient, and connected La Jolla. We look forward to keeping you updated as we move into this exciting next chapter.
With heartfelt appreciation and warmest wishes for the year ahead,
