San Diego’s final budget has several implications for La Jolla

After months of drafts, revisions, public scrutiny and disagreements, the city of San Diego finalized its budget for the 2025-26 fiscal year that began July 1. Now communities await the results.

Though the City Council acted to restore some funding toward wildfire-prevention brush management that Mayor Todd Gloria had tried to cut and restored discretionary funds that council members can distribute in their communities, the impact of those moves isn’t immediately clear.
